Xiang XIAO, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China

Xiao Xiang is a Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Director of the International Research Center for Deep Biosphere. His research focuses on life in extreme deep-sea environments. Since 2001, Prof. Xiao has led the way in China with his research on deep-sea microbiology under high-pressure conditions. In 2021, he initiated and led the "MEER" (Mid-Ocean Environment and Ecology Research) program. He has established an extreme microbial big data set (100TB) and a specialized microbial resource repository.
